Bequests

We invite you to continue your support of Hospitality House with a charitable bequest in your will or living trust. Giving through your will helps Hospitality House build its endowment as a permanent funding source. This endowment allows the shelter to continue to provide services for people who need help getting back on their feet.

There are many ways to make a bequest to Hospitality House. You can also name the shelter as a beneficiary of a 401(k) plan, an IRA, a pension plan or an insurance policy. As you discuss your plans with your family and/or legal counsel, the following wording may be helpful:

Percentage

This wording provides for a bequest of a certain percentage of your total estate.

“I give to the Foothill House of Hospitality, a California non-profit corporation doing business as Hospitality House, for the benefit of the Foothill House of Hospitality Endowment Fund, ________% of my total estate disposed of by this will (trust).”

Residual

With this wording, you may choose to assign your residuary estate after other specific bequests, debts, taxes, and expenses have been paid.

“I give to the Foothill House of Hospitality, a California non-profit corporation doing business as Hospitality House, for the benefit of the Foothill House of Hospitality Endowment Fund, the residual of my estate (or_____ %) of the residue of my estate).”

Specific

This method provides for gifts of specific assets or a specific dollar amount.

“I give to the Foothill House of Hospitality, a California non-profit corporation doing business as Hospitality House, for the benefit of the Foothill House of Hospitality Endowment Fund, the sum of $_________ or _________ (name of assets).”

Contingent

With this wording, you may name Hospitality House as an alternative beneficiary in the eventuality that your primary beneficiary does not survive you.

“If _______ shall fail to survive me, then I give the same to the Foothill House of Hospitality, a California non-profit corporation doing business as Hospitality House, for the benefit of the Foothill House of Hospitality Endowment Fund.”
