Did you see Steve Baker’s article in The Prospector yesterday about DJ Husky LePew celebrating his 100th show? That KVMR DJ talked to Steve Baker about the help he received from Hospitality House several years ago. “So I came here (KVMR) with an incredibly sexy voice and the rest is just seat of the pants radio,” he said with a laugh. “Hey, I’m your soul provider, baby.” Yup, that’s part of his radio format — “soul provider” of vintage R&B, smooth jazz and, of course, soul music. If you have insomnia on a Tuesday, tune in!

I have a story from one of our guests, Justin: “Since the day I arrived at Hospitality House I have been clean and sober, working full-time and taking classes and courses for creative writing. I’ve also been assigned as a caretaker to give back and it’s helping me a lot with my sobriety and my understanding of life. I come back from work every day to do the floors and laundry at Hospitality House.” And as of last week, he found a small place and moved out of the shelter. Congratulations, Justin. This month is our challenge grant—so any donation you give is doubled in May. Go online to hhshelter.org and give in May!

Bread & Roses Thrift Store is filling in their housewares and costume jewelry sections. Donation hours have expanded to 10am-5pm, behind Bread & Roses, Tuesday-Saturday. They also have a nice selection of lightweight sweaters and some nice coffee tables you should check out. On Saturdays, we need a sturdy volunteer to help in the back and another volunteer to help sort clothes 12-3 or 3-6. Drop by Bread & Roses Thrift!

Now down to the nitty gritty needs of the shelter for THIS week . . .

– Jewelry beading art supplies, stretchy string and earring wires
– Teaching assistant for our Rental Readiness class
– Photographer to do a 4-6 week project with our shelter guests
