I’m Laura Trent, long-time volunteer for Hospitality House and today, we’d like to give our heartfelt thanks to every community member who helped make Thanksgiving possible at the shelter yesterday. We had 25 donated turkeys from several individuals and organizations, including the “Day Break Police Blotter Group” out of Penn Valley, Friar Tuck’s Restaurant and Bar, BriarPatch Food Co-op, Interfaith Food Ministry, and more. Thank you, all! Thanksgiving was a big success with 150 meals served because of you!

For anyone listening who would like to help us create greater impact, now through Dec. 15, two local donors are matching all donations to Hospitality House. This means a $5 donation automatically becomes $10, which in turn can provide 10 meals. Learn more about this opportunity at hhshelter.org and while you’re there, check out Night of Giving too! Our annual benefit is back as a virtual affair this year on Dec. 19 to raise awareness and support for our homeless community. We’d like to thank SPD Markets for their sponsorship.

Normally at this time we also thank all the cook groups who came and cooked over the last week, but to keep our shelter safe amid COVID-19, our cook groups are supporting our meals by donating financial support and food, and Chef Chris is safely cooking all meals instead. We’d like to thank Unitarian Universalist Community of the Mountains, Divine Light Spiritist, The Gourmet Squad, Meal by Heels, Peace Lutheran Church, The Home Team and Seventh-day Adventist Church for all their recent help. To everyone who donated our most needed items last week, thank you as well!
