CalAIM
California Advancing and Innovating Medi-Cal (CalAIM) is a statewide initiative led by the Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) to make Medi-Cal more coordinated, person-centered, and equitable. CalAIM focuses on improving care for people experiencing homelessness, especially those with complex physical, mental, or behavioral health needs, by connecting them to health care, housing support, and community-based services.
Hospitality House is proud to provide services through CalAIM, helping improve health and housing outcomes for our homeless neighbors.
CalAIM Services Provided:
Housing Navigation Services
Housing Navigation services support individuals through every step of the housing process, from preparing necessary documents and addressing debt or credit issues to applying for housing vouchers, engaging with landlords, and securing move-in assistance. Many clients who receive Housing Navigation services also transition into Housing Sustainability and Tenancy Services after move-in, ensuring they continue to receive the support needed to maintain stable housing and enhance their overall quality of life.
Housing Deposits
CalAIM participants are eligible for a one-time service of up to $5,000.00 to assist with the security deposit and help establish a basic household, which may otherwise be a barrier to achieving housing goals. Deposit assistance can help with items such as move-in costs, utility setup fees, medical or safety items needed in the home, and more. Housing deposits can also help pay for basic household items, such as furniture, kitchen supplies, and other essentials.
Housing Tenancy Services
Housing Sustainability and Tenancy Services begin once an individual is housed and focus on supporting long-term stability through financial management, community integration, and housing retention. Hospitality House partners with clients to build the skills and access the resources they need to thrive in their new homes and maintain lasting well-being.
Recuperative Care
The Recuperative Care Program offers temporary shelter for individuals transitioning out of the hospital who need a safe and stable environment to continue their recovery. Whether they are healing from injuries, illnesses, or behavioral health conditions, the program delivers essential support to help prevent setbacks and promote long-term well-being.
