All Donations to Hospitality House Doubled through May 31! Give here>
Calling all community members! The chance to double one’s impact is here! All monetary donations made to Hospitality House by May 31, 2019 will be matched by anonymous donors, up to $30,000. A $5 gift will automatically become $10; a $50 gift will automatically become $100; and so forth.
“We are beyond grateful to the caring donors in our community who made this match possible,” said Nancy Baglietto, Executive Director of Hospitality House. “This match gives everyone a chance to double their impact right here where they live. There are hundreds of homeless people in Nevada County who are highly vulnerable and at-risk every day. With this generous May Match opportunity, we’ll be able to reach even more people in need together.”
In 2018, Hospitality House helped 501 homeless individuals through various programming, 332 of whom benefited from emergency shelter, including 20 children. In total, the 69 beds at the shelter were slept in 22,155 times.
A $50 gift helps one person at-risk receive a night of emergency shelter with all-inclusive wraparound services, such as food, clothing, a warm bed, case management, mental health counseling, job training, transportation to appointments, housing assistance, and more. Those who give $50 by May 31 will automatically have their gift doubled to $100 and in turn, help two people.
Kenneth Bell was a person who once needed help. Following an attack that almost took his life, Bell lost his way and soon found himself homeless. He eventually turned to Hospitality House for help, where he was met with care and compassion.
“Everyone was really friendly,” recalled Bell. “They help people understand they can do more…”
Within one month, Bell had a job and a plan formed to take back his life. Today, he has a home; he’s pursuing his second college degree; and he’s maintained the same employment for the last three years, but more people like Bell need help.
Through May 31, every donation given to Hospitality House will be matched to help more people return to housing. To learn more about Bell, the inspiration behind the May Match, read his story here>
