My name is Angela Degliantoni and I’m the Supervising CMSP Case Manager at Hospitality House. I specialize in working one-on-one with guests and helping them build a case management plan to return to stability and housing as well as helping guests access much needed medical.
As just one example, our team is currently helping a man who I will call Henry. Henry was living in his car for some time, but after it broke down, he needed another means for shelter. I was contacted when he showed up at Utah’s Place, hoping to get a bed for the night in our Outreach Dorm.
I learned Henry had no medical of any kind and he was unaware of many services available to him. I helped Henry fill out the necessary paperwork to establish a primary care physician, general assistance benefits, and also helped him sign up for Cal Fresh for food aid. He is currently saving up to fix his vehicle, which a nice local couple offered to store for the time being and my colleague, Fred Skeen, is also helping him develop a plan to return to housing.
Henry, like so many right now, is homeless and living in our shelter. And there are even more people without shelter this very moment. For those who would like to join our efforts, there is an incredible opportunity to help Henry and others like him receive double the boost to get back into housing. Through December 15, three local families are matching all donations to Hospitality House, up to $30,000! One dollar becomes $2 and can help provide two struggling locals with fuel and nourishment for the day. A $31 donation doubled right now is enough to provide a night of emergency shelter, three hearty meals, clothes, and personalized case management to one person right now.
It’s hard to believe but December is already here, which means Night of Giving is right around the corner! Mark your calendars for Saturday, Dec. 18 at 7 pm. We’d like to thank County of Nevada, CA, SPD Markets, B&C Ace Hardware and YubaNet for sponsoring Night of Giving AGAIN this year. Learn more about the event.
Normally at this time, we thank all the cook groups who came and cooked over the last week, but to keep our shelter safe, our cooking groups are supporting our meals by donating financial support and food, and Chef Gina is safely cooking all meals instead. We’d like to thank Wolf creek Co-housing, Telestream, Saint Patrick’s Side Kicks, Blessed Sisters, First Baptist Church, BriarPatch Food Co-Op and SPD Markets for all their recent help.
